How to Prepare for SSC CGL GK/GS Using Previous Year Papers

Start your preparation by covering the basic concepts of History, Geography, Polity, Economics and General Science. Along with static subjects, regularly revise important Current Affairs.

After completing each topic, solve related PYQs. This will help you understand the type of facts and concepts that are usually asked in SSC CGL.

While practising a complete shift paper, try to answer the questions without checking the solution. After finishing the paper, analyse your incorrect answers and revise the related topics.

Maintain a short revision notebook for important facts, dates, articles, awards, schemes, scientific terms, books, personalities and current affairs. Regular revision is especially important for the GK/GS section.

  • Improves confidence before the examination.

  • Helps candidates practise questions within a limited time.

SSC CGL GK/GS PYQ Preparation Strategy

Candidates should first complete the basic syllabus and then start topic-wise PYQ practice. Once the important topics are covered, move towards complete shift-wise papers.

Do not simply check whether your answer is correct or incorrect. Read the explanation and understand the fact or concept behind the question. Sometimes one PYQ can help you revise several related facts.

For Current Affairs, regularly revise important events along with static GK. For subjects such as History, Polity, Geography and Science, focus on repeated concepts and facts found in previous year papers.
