Q1.
Select the figure that will replace the question mark (?) in the following figure series.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Show answer

Concept: Each figure is the previous one rotated 90∘ anticlockwise; the arrow and the pentagon design turn together.

  1. Arrow: up → left → down, i.e. 90∘ anticlockwise each step, so the next arrow points right.
  2. The pentagon with its black triangles also turns 90∘ anticlockwise each time; the 4th figure is the 2nd figure turned 180∘.
  3. Only option (B) has a right-pointing arrow with the pentagon in this position; (C) and (D) show the pentagon wrongly oriented, (A) has the arrow to the left.

Trick: Track the simplest element (the arrow) first; it eliminates most options at once.

Answer: (B) the 2nd figure

Q51.
The detention of a person cannot exceed ________ unless an advisory board
consisting of judges of a High Court reports sufficient cause for extended detention.
  1. Aone month
  2. Bthree months
  3. Csix months
  4. Dtwo months
Show answer

Concept: Article 22 gives safeguards to persons arrested or detained. Clause (4) deals with preventive detention.

  1. Under Article 22(4), a law of preventive detention cannot authorise detention for more than three months.
  2. Longer detention is allowed only if an Advisory Board of persons qualified to be High Court judges reports sufficient cause.
  3. The 44th Amendment (1978) proposed reducing this to two months, but that part has not been brought into force.

Yaad rakhein: Art. 22(4) → 3 months; beyond that, Advisory Board approval is needed.

Answer: (B) three months

(B) three months

Q101.
A car starts at 3 p.m.at a speed of 50 km/h. Another car follows it at 4 p.m.at a speed of 75 km/h. At what time will the two cars will meet?
Show answer

Concept: When one object chases another, time to catch up =gaprelative speed.

  1. By 4 p.m. the first car is 50×1=50km ahead.
  2. Relative speed =75−50=25km/h.
  3. Time to catch up =5025=2h, so they meet at 4+2=6 p.m.

Trick: Head start ÷ speed difference gives the catch-up time; add it to the start time of the second car.

Answer: (A) 6 p.m.

उत्तर: (A) 6 p.m.
