NavIC India's Own GPS! 🛰️ What You NEED to Know! | #airgurukul

We all use GPS, but did you know India has its own navigation system? Meet NavIC!
Officially called the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), NavIC provides real-time, accurate location data for India and a 1500 km surrounding area. It has two services:
• Standard Positioning Service (SPS): For civilian use. 🗺️
• Restricted Service (RS): An encrypted service for the Indian military and security agencies. 🔒
NavIC has 7 satellites, but 5 are currently non-operational due to atomic clock failures. ISRO is now building indigenous rubidium clocks and plans to launch three more satellites by the end of 2026! 🚀
Space Technology is a key topic for defence exams due to NavIC's high strategic importance. It provides armed forces with independent and accurate navigation.
