SBI Clerk 2026 Syllabus

SBI does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The topics below are those regularly asked in the sections named in the official pattern. Prelims has English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning; Mains adds General/Financial Awareness and Computer Aptitude.

English Language

• Reading comprehension
• Cloze test and fillers
• Error spotting and sentence correction
• Para jumbles
• Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, word usage

Numerical Ability / Quantitative Aptitude

• Simplification and approximation
• Number series
• Quadratic equations
• Data interpretation (tables, bar, pie, line charts, caselets)
• Arithmetic: percentage, ratio, average, ages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, speed and distance, mixtures, mensuration, probability

Reasoning Ability (and Computer Aptitude in Mains)

• Puzzles and seating arrangement
• Syllogism and inequality
• Blood relations, direction sense, order and ranking
• Coding-decoding and alphanumeric series
• Input-output and data sufficiency (Mains)
• Computer basics: hardware, software, MS Office, internet, networking, shortcut keys, computer and banking-related terms (Mains)

General / Financial Awareness (Mains only)

• Current affairs of the last 4–6 months
• Banking and financial awareness: RBI, monetary policy, banking terms, financial inclusion
• Government schemes and Union Budget
• Static GK: capitals, currencies, important days, organisations

Preparation tips

• Mains Reasoning carries 60 marks for 50 questions, so give it extra practice.
• Read banking and economy news daily for General/Financial Awareness.
• Solve previous year SBI papers under sectional time limits.
