SSC MTS Syllabus

The CBE covers four subjects across two sessions. Questions are set around Class 10 level.

Session I

1. Numerical and Mathematical Ability (20 questions, 60 marks)

Integers and whole numbers, LCM and HCF
Decimals and fractions
Percentages, ratio and proportion
Averages, interest
Profit and loss, discount
Time and distance, time and work
Basic geometry and mensuration
Data interpretation (tables, graphs)

2. Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving (20 questions, 60 marks)

Analogies, classification and series (number and alphabet)
Coding and decoding
Directions and distance, blood relations
Venn diagrams
Non-verbal reasoning: mirror images, paper folding, embedded figures
Puzzles and seating arrangement

Session II

3. General Awareness (25 questions, 75 marks)

Current events and everyday science
History and culture of India
Geography of India and the world
Indian polity and Constitution
Indian economy
Sports, awards, books and authors

4. English Language and Comprehension (25 questions, 75 marks)

Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution
Grammar: error spotting, fill in the blanks
Sentence improvement and sentence structure
Reading comprehension

Preparation tips

Session I has no negative marking, so attempt all 40 questions.
Session II deducts 1 mark per wrong answer, so answer only when you are reasonably sure.
Havaldar aspirants should start walking and cycling practice early.

The topic list above follows the subject areas and pattern of the 2025 notification. The official notification gives the exact syllabus, so check it when the 2026 notice is released.
