RRB Group D (Level 1) – Overview

RRB Group D is the recruitment exam for Level 1 posts of the 7th CPC pay matrix in Indian Railways. It is held by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) through a Centralised Employment Notice (CEN), and applications are filed on rrbapply.gov.in. After the CBT, the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), document verification, medical exam and panels are handled by the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of each zonal railway.

Posts

Level 1 posts in departments such as Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal & Telecommunication and Traffic, for example Track Maintainer Grade IV (the largest group), Pointsman-B, Assistant (S&T) and Assistant posts in Bridge, Track Machine and other workshops and sheds. Selection stages

Computer Based Test (CBT) → Physical Efficiency Test (PET, qualifying) → Document Verification → Medical Examination.

Key facts (latest cycle – CEN 09/2025)

The earlier cycle, CEN 08/2024 (32,438 posts), had its CBT from 27 Nov 2025 to 10 Feb 2026 and its result on 1 Jul 2026, followed by PET.
