UPSSSC PET: Overview

The UPSSSC PET (Preliminary Eligibility Test) is a common screening test for Group B and Group C jobs in Uttar Pradesh government departments. It is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow, whose official website is upsssc.gov.in. PET is not a job recruitment by itself. Your PET score is used to shortlist you for the main exams of individual recruitments such as Lekhpal, Village Development Officer (VDO), Junior Assistant and Forest Guard.

Latest cycle: PET 2026

The notice (Advertisement No. 16-Exam/2026) is dated 1 August 2026. Online applications ran in August and, after an extension, closed on 7 September 2026. About 35.42 lakh candidates registered. The exam was held on 25 October, 30 October and 1 November 2026, and the provisional answer key was released on 2 November 2026, with objections open until 8 November. The result has not been declared yet (as of 4 November 2026).

How PET leads to a job

  1. Appear in PET and get a normalised score.
  2. Apply for a UPSSSC recruitment that uses PET when it is advertised.
  3. Get shortlisted on your PET score for that post's main exam (or skill test / physical test).
  4. Clear the main exam, document verification and other stages for final selection.
