Q41.
Two people, A and B, start running from the same point on a circular track of length 400 meters, but in opposite directions. A runs at 6 m/s and B at 4 m/s. In how many seconds will they meet for the first time?
Show answer

Concept: On a circular track, runners moving in opposite directions first meet when together they cover one full lap; relative speed = sum of speeds.

  1. Relative speed =6+4=10m/s.
  2. Time for first meeting =40010=40 s.

Trick: Opposite directions → add speeds; same direction → subtract speeds, and divide the track length by it.

Answer: (B) 40 seconds

Q71.
Sharad starts from Point A and drives 47 km towards the South. He then takes a right turn, drives 49 km, turns right and drives 51 km. He then takes a right turn and drives 53 km. He takes a final right turn, drives 4 km and stops at Point P. How far (shortest distance) and towards which direction should he drive in order to reach Point A again? (All turns are 90-degree turns only unless specified.)
  1. A4 km to the west4 km
  2. B2 km to the west2 km
  3. C1 km to the west1 km
  4. D3 km to the west3 km
Show answer

Concept: Track north–south and east–west displacements separately; right turns go S→W→N→E→S.

  1. Moves: 47 S, 49 W, 51 N, 53 E, 4 S.
  2. N–S: 47−51+4=0 ⇒ P is level with A.
  3. E–W: 53−49=4 km east of A.
  4. So from P he must drive 4 km to the west.

Trick: Cancel opposite legs (S vs N, E vs W) – the leftover gives distance and direction at once.

Answer: (A) 4 km to the west

  3. E–W: 53−49=4 km, A से पूर्व।

उत्तर: (A) 4 km पश्चिम
