Salary After CTET

CTET itself does not come with a salary. It is an eligibility test. Your salary depends on the teaching job you get later through a separate recruitment, for example in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS) or other central and state schools that accept CTET. In central government schools, teachers are paid under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay matrix.

Allowances

Along with basic pay, central government teachers receive allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance, as per central government rules. The exact amounts depend on the city of posting and the DA rate at the time, so in-hand salary changes from place to place.

Points to remember

• CTET Paper I is linked to primary (PRT) posts and Paper II to TGT/upper primary posts.
• Pay in private schools and state government schools that accept CTET is set by those employers and can be very different.
• Always check the pay level printed in the recruitment notification of the post you apply for.
