What makes up the salary
- Basic pay: starts at the first figure in the range and rises with annual increments.
- Dearness Allowance: a percentage of basic pay, revised by the Government twice a year.
- HRA: depends on whether you are posted in an X, Y or Z class city. You do not get HRA if you live in government housing.
- Transport Allowance and other allowances, according to central government rules.
- Deductions: pension contribution (NPS or the central scheme in force when you join), CGHS where it applies, and income tax.
Career growth
LDCs / JSAs can be promoted to Upper Division Clerk and higher posts under their department's rules. They can also take departmental exams, or SSC CGL itself, to move to higher-level posts.
We have not listed exact in-hand amounts because they change with DA revisions and the city of posting.
