SSC CPO Syllabus

From 2026, Paper-I and Paper-II test the same four subjects. Paper-II is set at a higher level, and English has the most weight in it (200 of 320 marks). Below are the topics listed in the 2026 notice.

1. General Intelligence and Reasoning

• Verbal and non-verbal reasoning
• Analogies and classification
• Series and coding-decoding
• Venn diagrams
• Space visualisation and pattern folding
• Matching addresses and dates

2. General Knowledge and General Awareness

• Current events
• Everyday science and scientific research
• India and its neighbouring countries: history, culture and geography
• Economic scene, general polity and the Indian Constitution

3. Quantitative Aptitude

• Number systems, percentage, ratio and proportion, averages
• Profit and loss, time and work, time and distance
• Basic algebraic identities and graphs of linear equations
• Geometry: triangles and circles
• Mensuration
• Trigonometry, heights and distances
• Data interpretation: histograms, bar diagrams and pie charts

4. English Comprehension

• Spotting errors and fill in the blanks
• Vocabulary and spellings
• Grammar and sentence structure
• Synonyms, antonyms and idioms
• Reading comprehension

How to prepare

• Paper-I is now 1 hour with a 15-minute timer per section, so practise timed sectional tests.
• English is the biggest part of Paper-II. Read every day and revise grammar rules early.
• Start physical training early. You must clear PET/PST before Paper-II.
