SUPER TET Exam Pattern 2026

Super TET 2026 Exam Pattern

The 2026 exam uses a revised pattern. The earlier Super TET (2019) had 150 questions of 1 mark each, 150 minutes and no negative marking. The new UPESSC exam has fewer questions, higher marks per question and a penalty for wrong answers.

Basic scheme

Objective (MCQ) paper, 120 questions
Total marks: 360 (3 marks for each correct answer)
Negative marking: 1 mark deducted for each wrong or multiple answer; no deduction for unattempted questions
Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes)
Language: Hindi and English
If held in more than one shift, scores will be normalised

Subject-wise distribution (Primary, Classes 1 to 5)

Subject	Questions	Marks	Level
General Knowledge and Current Affairs	25	75	General
Logical Reasoning	5	15	General
Hindi, Sanskrit and English	30	90	Up to Class 12
Science	8	24	Up to Class 12
Mathematics	16	48	Up to Class 12
Environmental and Social Studies	8	24	Up to Class 12
Teaching Skills	8	24	D.El.Ed
Child Psychology	8	24	D.El.Ed
Information Technology	4	12	D.El.Ed
Life Skills, Management and Attitude	8	24	D.El.Ed
Total	120	360

Old vs new pattern

Feature	2019 (old)	2026 (new)
Questions	150	120
Total marks	150	360
Duration	2 hours 30 minutes	2 hours
Negative marking	No	Yes, 1 mark

Tie-breaking rule

If two candidates get the same marks, the one with higher graduation percentage ranks higher, then higher training qualification percentage, then the older candidate.

Because of negative marking, attempt questions only when you are fairly sure. Each wrong answer costs you one-third of what a correct answer earns.
