BPSC TRE: Overview

The BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) is the written exam through which the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) selects School Teachers (Vidyalaya Adhyapak) for government schools under the Education Department, Government of Bihar. The current cycle is TRE 4.0, the fourth phase, notified under Advertisement No. 15/2026.

• Primary School Teacher – Classes 1 to 5
• Middle School Teacher – Classes 6 to 8
• Secondary School Teacher – Classes 9 and 10
• Higher Secondary School Teacher – Classes 11 and 12

Selection stages

1. Written examination with objective (multiple-choice) questions. In August 2026 the BPSC Examination Controller said TRE 4.0 would have two stages, a Preliminary and a Main exam, with negative marking.
2. Merit list by level, subject and category
3. Document verification of academic, training, TET/STET and reservation certificates

Key facts (TRE 4.0)

TRE 1.0 was held in August 2023. The last completed phase, TRE 3.0, was held from 19 to 22 July 2024 after the March 2024 paper was cancelled following a paper leak.
